Ala. - On January 16, 2021, the Mobile Museum of Art will present a special exhibition that will capture the history of Mobile, Alabama, from the early 20th century to the present day.

The history of Mobile's segregation, 1956, is on view at the Mobile Museum of Art until January 16, 2021. Support for the exhibition came from the Alabama Department of Education, the State of Alabama and the National Institute of Museum and Library Services. The financing of this exhibition was partly funded by the Institute for Museum & Library Service and made available by the Library Services and Technology Act to support the exhibition.

Located in Vincent Doan Walsh House (circa 1827), one of Spring Hill's oldest surviving private homes, the Medical Museum is one of the few regional museums dedicated to the history and practice of medicine. The museum aims to preserve, exhibit and commemorate medical artifacts and archival materials, as well as to organize educational programs for students, faculty and staff.

Just in time for the Civil War, the Mobile - Ohio railway line was completed, connecting Mobile with Columbus, Kentucky, and passing through Atmore on the Alabama-Florida border. The progress was based on the transport of cotton downstream by flatboat and steamboat from the cotton growing centers in Mississippi and Alabama to the Mississippi cotton growing center in Alabama. The first residents were born in 1827 in the failed wine and olive colony of Spring Hill, Alabama.
